Skyline R-II Board Meeting
November 15, 2017
The Skyline R-II Board meeting met in regular session on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 with all 7 members present. The consent agenda items consisting of Board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.
In old business: Doug Hutchison from the Skyline Rural Fire Department asked to talk to the Board. The Skyline Fire Department has had an agreement with the Skyline School District since 1985 allowing the use of a portion of the school district property for housing their trucks and hosting fundraisers. They have built a couple of buildings on the property and had signed a 99 year lease with the district for use of the property. The Fire Department is interested in purchasing the land that they are using from the District. The School Board said they would look into it and discuss Real Estate matters in closed session.
In new business: Matthew James, certified public accountant, presented the Basic Financial Statements and Supplementary information (audit) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. He stated, “In my opinion, the financial statements referred to present fairly, in all material respects”. In other words the district had a clean report. The District operates on a cash basis and ended the year with $188,721.30, this included a carryover of approximately $20,000. The Board approved the auditor’s report. The 2017-2018 bus routes were presented and approved. The following program evaluations were presented and approved: Professional Development, Library Media Services, and At-Risk/Differentiated Instruction. The Board voted to move the December Board meeting to December 19, 2017. Policies and Regulation updates were presented and approved: Students in Foster Care, Admission of Homeless Students, Student Suicide Awareness, Agreement for Reporting Third and Fourth Degree Assault, Inoculations of Students, Procurement Standards for Federal contracts, and Retirement Compensation. In the Superintendent’s Report: Enrollment for October was 84 students in K-8th grade with 13 preschool students. School Board Candidate filing begins December 12, 2017 and runs through January 16, 2018. There will be two positions available. The next regular scheduled Board meeting is December 19, 2017.
