Skyline R-II Board Meeting
March 21, 2018
The Skyline R-II Board meeting met in regular session on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with 6 members present. The consent agenda items consisting of Board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.
In old business: The Skyline Board is still working towards getting information together regarding deeding over the old bus barn and land to the Skyline Volunteer Fire Department. The surveying should be complete within the next week or so and presented at the April Board meeting. The GoGuardian computer monitoring/filtering program for the chromebooks has been purchased and installed on the computers. The Board was presented with and approved an amended calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. It contains the same number of days (162 student days); changed were made to the week of Spring Break and 3rd quarter parent/teacher conferences.
In new business: Board members expressed an interest in researching some safety and security issues for the school; specifically some door jams to keep intruders out. More information will be presented at the next meeting. After a long discussion, the Board voted 4 to 2 to reduce the benefit amount that staff can use towards dental, vision, accident insurance, or an annuity if they have proof of health insurance somewhere else other than the health insurance provided by the district. The amount was set at a flat rate of $175 for full-time employees and $87.50 for part-time employees. Certified contract days were set at 171 days for the 2018-2019 school year. School Board election date is April 3, 2018. Skyline had 2 openings and only 2 students running for the positions so there will not be an election. The Reorganizational meeting is set for the same night at the regular Board meeting on April 18, 2018. Bids are being taken on 2 old buses that have been used for parts. In the Superintendentís Report: Enrollment for January was 81 students in K-8th grade with 12 preschool students. The March school bus inspection- 100% of buses passed the inspection with minor fixes Ė no buses were put out of commission. The next regular scheduled Board meeting is April 18, 2018.
