Skyline R-II Board Meeting
February 20, 2014
The Skyline R-II Board met in regular session on Thursday February 20, 2014 with six members present. The consent agenda items consisting of Board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.
In old business: The 2013-2014 amended school calendar was presented and approved. Changes included changing the date of the 3rd quarter and moving Parent Teacher Conferences. Snow make up days were noted and being used as previously presented with the last day of school currently set for May 22.
In new business: Skyline will not have to hold an election for school board this year because there were 3 positions open and only 3 candidates applied. The Reorganizational meeting was approved for April 17 right before the regular board meeting. The testing schedule was approved for May 5-9 for MAP, TerraNova and the EOC exams. The Board voted to hold summer school June 2-27. The Board approved to continue membership with the OSS Insurance Consortium for the 2014/2015 school year. The OSS Consortium is moving to a self-funded trust program. Skyline has missed 18 days because of weather. The state requires schools to make up 10 of those days. The Board decided that in the case of more bad weather that certified staff will be required to work on curriculum on weather days if the roads are passable.
In the Superintendentís Report: Enrollment for January was 85 students in K-8th grade with 15 preschool students. Board members were presented with Tiger Talk articles and watched a short video from the Missouri Healthy Schools Healthy Alliance Program. The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday March 20, 2014 at 7:00 pm.
